THE CHEAPEST ROUTES TO STYLE

Staying stylish definitely has the ability to make you skint, especially if you’re trying to survive on a student budget. Everyone loves a bargain, that fashion find that had you gawping at the barely-there price tag. However, it has to be said that this is often not the case when shopping in popular high street stores.

A huge advantage of living the university lifestyle is that we students are far more open to try the cheaper alternatives that so many do not. Our reliance on own brand products the half-off aisle in the supermarket has made us aware of the savings we can make in other aspects of our lives, especially fashion.
Style Campus has picked the three fail-safe places to shop if you’re on the hunt for a style bargain.

Charity Shops
Ok, so charity shops haven’t exactly got a reputation for selling high fashion, but Style Campus can assure you that anyone with an eye for style will be able to discover some real beauties in here if you take time to look. Think about all the people who donate to these stores, it’s likely that they too shopped in the high street. Some may even be giving up the clothes they wore in their youth, so the likelihood of nabbing a beautiful vintage piece is very high. Not only are the style opportunities endless, but the prices are very low and even better, the money you pay will be doing some good too.

Fabric Shops
People don’t just go here to buy new curtains you know. In fact, fabric shops are becoming increasingly popular amongst students. Why? Well you can purchase rolls of fabric for barely anything in there. So those with a creative flair who want to try their hand at customising some of their own clothes, this is the place to shop. If it’s an outfit update you want, or even a whole new one, practice makes perfect so get out that sewing kit and get shopping.

Vintage Shops
Do you admire flirty fifties fashion, or do you long for the sassy seventies style? Well vintage fashion is definitely the answer to your prayers. Vintage stores are home to hundreds of second hand clothes, the one off pieces that belonged to the fashionistas of the past, but sold at just a snippet of their original price. Owning a vintage piece will almost guarantee you originality when you wear it, as it’s highly unlikely a vintage store in your area will sell two of the same item.
Here’s why to shop in Canterbury’s very own vintage boutique, Vintage Warehouse.
